Warrnambool Kennels and Cattery

Your pets will enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings and the 6 acre garden that is our home. There are numerous native birds, a huge frog population, koalas and possums and a wallaby who pops in every now and then.

Warrnambool Kennels and Cattery has been owned and operated by the same owners since 1979.

Whilst having 45 individual kennels and 22 individual cat areas, it can be classed as an intimate and cosy environment. Situated in the beautiful Grassmere Valley which is about 6 kms from the Warrnambool City boundary.

TERMS and CONDITIONS

Hours

Hours are 9.00am to 6.00pm
7days a week except Christmas Day and New Years Day.

Cancellations

During the Christmas, New Year and Easter periods we expect people to honour their bookings even if their stay is cut short for some reason. However, during the rest of the year clients only pay for the board time they use.

Some people wish to pay up front but most pay at the end of their pet`s stay.

health, safety and grooming

We need to view an immunisation certificate and pets need to be wormed and checked for fleas prior to boarding.

Our facilities are scrupulously clean. We do not agree with grassed exercise areas due to the cleanliness aspect. We have an 80 ft long exercise area under cement.

We provide a bed but not the bedding. About 70% of pet owners bring some bedding which should be clean.

If your pets grooming brush is provided we can certainly give a daily brush.

After 1983, when the Ash Wednesday Fires occurred in neighbouring areas, we installed a sprinkler system over the entire 6 acres. The reality of pet safety was vivid after this experience. All thru the dry weather the area is kept constantly green.

individual care and facilities

The main boarding kennel has compartments that are 5ft wide, the shelter is 5ft by 6ft and the individual  run off that is 26ft long. This is a comparatively large area for the individual pet.

Dogs can be treated to nature walks through the wonderland garden if the owners consent to this. The pets need to be well-mannered on a lead. There is a small extra fee for this service.

In the kennels dogs can see each other which adds to the enjoyment for most dogs. Pets from different families are never mixed. It is a safe and cheerful atmosphere.

The shelters are fully insulated and the floors heated in the colder months. They are cleaned a minimum of 3 times daily, often more. Individual care is given to shy, timid pets and all are talked to. We have a fully equipped kitchen.

Clients occasionally bring their pet's own food but a large variety of foods are on hand and owners can give any requirements to us when they fill in the entry form. The entry form is a legal requirement.

Medications can be given for a small extra fee.

caring for your cat

Similarly, cats are cared for with love and respect.

The cattery contains  individual stone, insulated shelters that open onto an individual outdoor section. Your cat has his own balcony and can view all the cats but never mixes with them. This is an unthreatening situation.

Owners can bring toys and some individual bedding for their pet. This is placed on the shelf in the shelter and gives security.

There is an option of a heated pad in the winter months.

We offer a variety of foods and individual requirements can be written on the entry form.

other pets

All pets are treated with kindness.

We can also cater for birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, pet rats etc.

We at Warrnambool Kennels and Cattery look forward to meeting you and your pet.
